Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat reiterated that he would visit Damascus at the "appropriate time" although he said he "hasn't received any invitation yet." "Whenever I receive an invitation, I will announce it and announce when I am going," Jumblat told An Nahar daily in remarks published Monday.

Lebanon First bloc MP Okab Sakr told Al Balad newspaper in an interview published on Monday that addressing Israeli threats will be a main theme in the speeches to be made during the fifth commemoration of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri assassination on February 14.
 
  Recovered Black Box Could Tell Story of Ethiopian Plane Crash

Lebanese marine commandos managed to pull one of the two black boxes from the crashed Ethiopian plane which is "critical" to determining the cause of the crash. Transportation Minister Ghazi Aridi, which has described the recovery of the black box on Sunday as "very important," said efforts continued to pull the cockpit voice recorder.
 
  Assad to Berri: Syria will Support Lebanon if Israel Attacks

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad told visiting Speaker Nabih Berri that Damascus will support Lebanon in the event of any attack from Israel, the official SANA news agency reported. "Syria will stand alongside the government and people of Lebanon against any possible Israeli aggression.
 
  European Official: Lebanon is Safe from Israeli Attacks during Next 3 Months

"Lebanon is safe from Israeli attacks during the next three months," The daily Ad-Diyar quoted a European official as saying. Ad-Diyar also quoted the Turkish tourism minister as saying that Ankara is in "contact with Israel almost daily in an effort to discourage it from carrying out any aggression against Lebanon."
 
  Hariri in Vatican this Month Amid Busy Presidential Schedule

Prime Minister Saad Hariri traveled to Paris on a private visit Thursday as Baabda palace officials are preparing for President Michel Suleiman's visit to Cyprus next Friday. Suleiman will also visit Moscow on Feb. 24.
